Raleigh Jaycee members stand out for various attributes – some stand out as active, some devoted, some passionate and some even creepy. But those that have really made a difference in our organization stand strong, devoted, willing and special.
Jeff Neblett was very active in our group of young professionals and was truly special! One area where he really shined was through Goodfellows and man, oh man could he could raise money. He loved it and devoted many weeknights and weekends standing on street corners, in malls, outside of grocery stores, and sport events. He raised the most money for Goodfellows, almost every year for over 15 years. He made Goodfellows Roundtable, raising more than $300 every year. He continued donating even after he married, started a family and went on to other avenues of life.
Long time Raleigh Jaycee and Lifetime Goodfellows Round Table supporter Jeff Neblett lost a short battle with pancreatic cancer in January, 2014. Many of those who knew Jeff and his love for Goodfellows proposed that we dedicate the Goodfellows Round Table Fundraising award to Neblett’s Circle. The Raleigh Jaycees will always remember this caring man that had the heart of gold, by memorializing him forever in our Goodfellows event. “Round Table” was renamed “Neblett’s Circle” – forever working for the children, and forever remembering who would never forget them. He was an example to so many people, not just the members of the Jaycees. We think of how many children he helped with his efforts, and where they are now. We want his daughters to know just how much their Daddy was loved!
